Open Book, State Library of Victoria:

2018

Open Book was commissioned by the State Library of Victoria for the the Welcome Zone  at the entrance of the Redmond Barry collection. It comprised a series of 15 giant open books with assembled objects assembled atop to create a wall of playful and personal images.

The concept behind the work is to evoke the possibilities and creative associations that can grow from the simple act of opening a book. For each of us, when we read we think of different possibilities- our own unique meanings and associations are formed. The potential of these creative connections and sparks is endless..

For each of us to begin our creative journey to making our own artwork, or understanding the underlying meaning in our lives, all it may take is the simple act of opening a book.
